Enlisted in Co. C., Second Infantry, as sergeant, May 25, 1861 at Battle Creek for 3 years at age 23. Commissioned 2nd Lieut. Sept. 22, 1861, commissioned 1st. Lieut. Co. A., Aug. 25, 1862, commissioned captain; Co. H., Feb. 24, 1863. Acting Assistant Inspector General, Second Brigade, Third div., Ninth Corps, from June, 1864-Sept., 1864.
