Biographical notes:
Edwin Allen Francis was born in La Junta, Colo. on March 7, 1905. A graduate of Denver's South High School, he received his architectural training at the Mass. Institute of Technology (MIT). Francis worked for J.B. Benedict and Harry James Manning before starting his own architectural practice in 1932. In the 1930s he was an early proponent of the International Style and after World War II he became well know for his Modernist designs. Francis developed an additional architectural practice in Colo. Springs, Colo. with associate, Carlisle B. Guy (1919-1993). He died in Denver, Colo. on July 8, 1966.
