Biographical notes:

Samuel Partridge settled in Hatfield, Mass. in 1687 and during the next fifty years became one of the most influential men in western Massachusetts.

Among many undertakings, he served in several of the French and Indian Wars, was a judge of the probate court, and a member of his Majesty's Council. At the age of seventy-six Partridge was again put in command of the forces in Hampshire County with headquarters at Hatfield during the war with the Eastern Indians in 1722. He died in 1740 in Hatfield at the age of ninety-five.
