Biographical notes:

Hardware store in Beardstown, Ill. founded in 1891 by William Frey and continued in the Frey family until it closed in 1976. After the store became established they contracted out for building and repair jobs, they sold firearms and were part of the Garden Seed Relief Program. William, Jr. who took over the store after his father, was a member of the Beardstown Municipal Band and involved with the local area bands including the school bands. Robert Frey and Charles Holbrook were partners when the store finally closed in the 1970's.
