Biographical notes:
Haspl (b. 1931) served in the Army from 1951 to 1953.
He grew up in Prague (Czechoslovakia) until moving to New York in 1946, where he attended Hackley School. In Korea, he served as a gunner and as chief of the firing battery with C Battery, 69th Field Artillery Battalion, 25th Division. After the war, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and took a semester of graduate school classes at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He married Sandra, raised two daughters, worked with exports, and eventually settled in Madison.
