Biographical notes:

Charles A. Bane (1913- ), a public utilities and antitrust lawyer, joined the Chicago, Illinois firm of Isham, Lincoln & Beale in 1953. From 1960-1966 he participated in the federal price-fixing cases against some 25 manufacturers of electical power generating and transmission equipment, including General Electric, Westinghouse, Allis-Chalmers, and I-T-E Circuit Breaker Company. The cases involved almost 2,000 separate lawsuits, 35 different court jurisdictions and nearly a half billion dollars in damage awards. Bane began as attorney for some of the plaintiffs and became chair of the Anti-Trust Investigation Group which was formed to coordinate the separate actions. A Coordinating Committee of federal judges was also formed to streamline procedures and minimize duplication of testimony among the various jurisdictions.
