Biographical notes:
Nahum Jones (1772-1807), son of Jonathan and Lydia Jones, was born in a section of Templeton, Mass., which became part of Gerry (Phillipston), Mass., in 1786. Jones was a school teacher who taught in various towns in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and New York from 1790 to 1807. He resided on a farm in Gerry, where he died at the age of 35.
