St. John's Episcopal Church.
Biographical notes:
Built between 1843 and 1844, St. John's Episcopal Church is one of the oldest Episcopal churches west of the Mississippi. Located on the corner of Jackson and West Seventh Streets in Thibodaux, La., St. John's was constructed on land donated by George Seth Guion. St. John's cemetery is located behind the church and is the resting place for many prominent Louisiana families including Gov. Francis T. Nicholls and the Guion family. Both the church and its cemetery are currently on the National Register of Historic Places.

St. John's Episcopal Church is the oldest church edifice standing in Cleveland, Ohio, today. The church was originally founded at Trinity Church in Brooklyn, Ohio, in 1816. When Trinity moved to the East side of the Cuyahoga River in 1826, several families left to form St. John's Episcopal Church in 1834 in Ohio City (now Cleveland, Ohio). Hezekiah Eldredge, a member of St. John's, was contracted to build the church building in 1838. St. John's is said to have been a stop on the Underground Railroad, and two other Episcopal churches were founded out St. John's missions, St. Mark's and All Saints. The Inner City Protestant Parish was also founded at St. John's.
