Biographical notes:

Robert P. Boyce, 1816-1889, was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and claimed, in his memoirs, to “come of a hard headed race.” He was a veteran of both the Texas Revolution and the U.S. Civil War. An important milestone during his military career was when he was assigned to guard Santa Anna following the Texan victory at the Battle of San Jacinto.
