Biographical notes:
In 1970 Lillian Whitehouse (later, Lyle) broadened the scope of college education by offering the women of the Spokane, Washington area special programs. Her educational model, “Women in Transition,“ has been widely copied. Her understanding and concern for women in what they yearn to achieve and her respect for their learning abilities led to her being awarded Whitworth College’s George Frederick Whitworth Medal on April 15, 1977.
