Leslie Talbot Pennington (1899-1974) graduated from Earlham College in 1922 and Harvard Divinity School in 1926. Ordained in 1926, Pennington served Unitarian parishes in Cambridge, Lincoln, Braintree, and West Newton, Massachusetts; Chicago, Illinois; and Ithaca, New York. He served on the American Unitarian Association Board of Directors from 1936 to 1938 and again from 1956 to 1958. In 1947 he became the chairman of the Unitarian Commission on Church Union, a committee to study and move toward merger with the Universalist denomination. The Rev. Pennington also founded the Greenfield Group, an intellectual retreat for ministers.
