Historical Background

Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. (TAI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to honoring the accomplishments and perpetuating the legacy of the African Americans that served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Additionally, this organization introduces young people to aviation and science as well as provides scholarships and awards to individuals, groups, and organizations that exemplify the spirit of TAI. In February of 1974, Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. Western Region was formed as a non-profit California corporation and was later renamed to Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. Los Angeles Chapter in the August of 1977.

1972: Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. was founded and the First National Convention was held. 1974: Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. Western Region was founded. 1977: Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. Western Region was renamed Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. Los Angeles Chapter.
