Jacques Auguste de Thou was a French writer, historian, statesman, and a principal architect of the Edict of Nantes and signer of the Treaty of Loudun in 1616. His political offices included Counsellor of State and Director of Finances. He served as the head of the Royal Library ca. 1591.
