Biographical notes:

Mary Shelby Wilson, the wife of Samuel M. Wilson, a Lexington, Ky. attorney very active in the Democratic Party of Kentucky, was herself involved in Democratic Party women's activities. She played a role in the formation of the Women's Democratic League in Lexington in 1916, and in the founding of the Woman's Democratic Club of Fayette County in 1920, later serving as its chairman. As a local organizer, she corresponded with the Democratic National Committee, with candidates for office, with other women political leaders in Kentucky, such as Laura Clay, Madeline Breckinridge, and Alice Lloyd of Maysville, and with women active on the national scene.
