Marvin P. Lyon, Jr. submitted this paper in partial fulfillment of the requirements for honors in American History, April 9, 1990.
Raymond Pace Alexander (1898-1974) was a prominent black trial lawyer from 1924 to 1959 when he was appointed the Court of Common Pleas as judge. Much of his energy was devoted to cases concerning the protection of civil liberties of minority people.
