Kent Parsons Dumont (1941-) was a mycologist, specializing in the Sclerotiniaceae and Leotiaceae. He collected in Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, Panama, Venezuela, Brazil and the Philippines. He was Associate Curator of Fungi (1960-1977) and Curator of Fungi (1978-1982) at the New York Botanical Garden. He was also Assistant Professor of Botany at Lehman College, CUNY (1977-1978). He was born in Newburyport, Mass. He received his B.A. from Gettysburg College and his M.S. (1965) and Ph.D. (1970) from Cornell University. His mentor was Richard P. Korf. After a leave of absence in 1982-1983, he did not return to NYBG and has made no further contributions to the field of botany.
