The Office of the President serves as the chief executive officer of the University of Washington and reports directly to the Board of Regents. The President is responsible for the management and conduct of all the affairs of the University. Fiscal affairs are managed by the Office of the Executive Vice President, while the Office of the Provost provides leadership and services to the University of Washington in academic program, budget, research, and faculty matters.

The Office of the President serves as the chief executive officer of the University of Washington and reports directly to the Board of Regents. The President is responsible for the management and conduct of all the affairs of UW except those which, by law or order, are the specific responsibility of other persons or bodies. The UW president is authorized to attend all regular and special meetings of the Board pf Regents and its committees and bring matters before the Board or any of its committees for discussion and action.
The UW president is authorized and encouraged to recommend for appointment by the Board (excluding the student regent) vice presidents, deans, and other officers as are necessary for assistance in carrying out efficiently the manifold responsibilities of the chief executive officer of the University. All such officers of UW are under the general supervision of and exercise powers and duties as prescribed by the UW president. Fiscal affairs are managed by the Office of the Executive Vice President, while the Office of the Provost provides leadership and services to the University of Washington in academic program, budget, research, and faculty matters.
