Biographical notes:
Stephen L. Barrett was born in Logan, Utah, in 1934. His parents later moved to Phoenix, Arizona, and then to El Cerrito, California, where Barrett attended elementary and high school. He received a bachelor's degree and master's degree from Brigham Young University. He accepted employment with Brigham Young University in 1969 and served as the director of the Brigham Young University Alumni Association from 1986 to 1998.
