Dorothy M. Richardson was an English novelist of experimental fiction comparable to her contemporaries, Joyce, Proust, and Virginia Woolf. She moved to London and became intimate with the city's artists, culminating in an affair with H.G. Wells. Her massive 13-volume cycle of novels, Pilgrimage, features stream-of-consciousness reflections and insights into the main character's mind, rather than emphasis on external events. Her work has influenced female authors and experimental fiction.
