Biographical notes:
Mark Childress was born in Monroeville, Alabama, in 1957. He attended the University of Alabama, 1974-1978. After a short career in journalism, including stints with the Birmingham News (1977-1980) and Southern Living magazine (1980-1984), Childress turned to novel writing. He has written seven novels and one screenplay.
