Conservative columnist and radio commentator, of Manning S.C.; born in Charleston, S.C.; attended Washington and Lee University (Lexington, Va.) and the University of South Carolina Law School (Columbia, S.C.); taught history at The Citadel (Charleston, S.C.); dean, Anderson College (Anderson, S.C.); Director General of public schools and colleges in Peru; organized Farmers and Taxpayers League; and Superintendent of the S.C. branch of the Anti-saloon League of America.
