James Evans (Tumble)

Biographical notes:

James Evans was born c1891. He was elected Craftsmen's Representative on Lodge or Branch Committee aged 18. In 1929 he was elected the first Craftsmen's E.C. Member for the Old Anthracite District. He was elected to represent the Craftsmen and Mechanical Workers on the South Wales Miners Federation Executive Council. In 1948 he was elected to the post of Craftsmen's Agent, National Union of Mineworkers (South Wales Area).

James Evans was a member of the South Wales and Monmouthshire Central Welfare Committee, the Anthracite Combine Committee and an advisory member of the South Wales, Monmouthshire and Forest of Dean Executive Council, National Union of Mineworkers. From 1912 he was a member of the Labour Party and was a member of the Executive Council of the Regional Council of Labour, Wales 1945-1949.
