Masterson Family
Biographical notes:
The Masterson family were a pioneer Texas ranching family, owners of the JY Ranch, and breeders of Aberdeen Angus cattle. The ranch, begun by Robert B. Masterson in the 1880s, consisted of some 73,000 acres and was later operated by his descendents for three generations. In 1957, following the death of Masterson's grandson, Tom Masterson Jr., a well known cattleman and longtime director of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, the ranch was sold to G. H. and Ed Lawrance of San Antonio, Texas.
