The Seattle-King County Planning Council on Aging was established in 1973 in cooperation with King County and the United Way, evolving from an United Way Council on Aging created in 1956; name changed in 1984 to the Seattle-King County Advisory Council on Aging, and again in 1998 to the Seattle-King County Advisory Council on Disability and Aging Services; the Aging and Disability Services unit of Seattle's Human Services Dept. serves as Seattle's sponsor and liaison for the council.
