Biographical notes:
The Congressman Frank Horton Distinguished Speaker Series was started in honor of Frank Jefferson Horton, a Representative from New York from 1963-1993. Originally born in Texas, Horton earned his LL.B. from Cornell University in 1947. He began practicing law in New York and served on the Rochester city council from 1955-1961. In 1963, he was elected to Congress and served for 30 years. An active supporter of the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), the university created the Horton Distinguished Speaker Series in his honor. Over the years, several prominent speakers have appeared at RIT as part of the series. Some of these speakers include: Gerald R. Ford, Dick Cheney, Johnnie L. Cochran, and James C. Fletcher.
