Biographical notes:
Summerville and Charleston, S.C. businessman. He was the owner of a hat store in Summerville and the first men's hat store in Charleston. He published a small quarterly, established in 1849, featuring items for sale at "Hat Hall" and a page of "varieties" including jokes and observations.
