Biographical notes:
During Mexican American War, served as private, Company H, South Carolina Volunteers (Palmetto Regiment); wounded at the Battle of Churubusco (20 Aug. 1847); married Elizabeth Scott of Fairfield County, S.C. in 1851; worked as a house painter in Columbia, S.C., after his military service.
