The Log was the yearbook of the Norwegian Lutheran Deaconesses' Home and Hospital's school of nursing. It is not known when it began, but it is assumed that the last issue was 1966, because the school of nursing closed after graduation that year. The Log was produced each year by the senior class, capturing highlights of their years at the school.

Content varied somewhat, but many features were the same from year to year. The focal point of all issues was the photographs of the senior class. The photos varied in size; in the earlier years, the pictures were small and pages had two to five pictures per page. In later years, the pictures became larger and often each graduate had a separate page. Pictures were accompanied by captions which might include a nickname, a sentimental remembrance, or a favorite saying. Pictures of the hospital staff and class pictures of the freshman and junior classes were included. In many years there was a class will and class prophecy, history of the hospital and school of nursing, candid snapshots, humorous names or designations for staff members, and even jokes.

The Log was generally 11 x 8 inches in size. Early issues had board covers in various colors with the title and the hospital seal. The 1933 edition is unusual; the pages are slightly smaller than usual and are laid out in landscape orientation, rather than portrait. In the 1940s, the covers were padded, giving greater volume to the book. Only black and white photographs were used. In a few books, there were written sketches, generally humorous ones, as well as photos.
