Denn, John.
Biographical notes:
John Denn was born in 1751, in Salem, New Jersey, the son of John and Elizabeth Denn. At an early age, he was apprenticed to his uncle David Bacon of Philadelphia, a hatter, to learn the trade. When he was of age, Denn returned to Salem County, and opened his own business in the village of Hancocks Bridge. A few years later, he relocated his business to the town of Salem. Eventually, Denn gave up his trade and moved to Cripp's estate, a farm he purchased in Mannington, New Jersey. He became a successful farmer over the years, and added significant tracts of land to his holdings, both in Mannington, and outside the township as well. Denn married Susannah FitzGerald of Elsinboro, New Jersey, on February 15, 1772. Together, they had three children: Samuel, John, and Rachel. John Denn died at the age of 84 on September 29, 1834, in Mannington, New Jersey.
