Sankary was born in 1919 on a farm near Scranton, ND; graduated from law school at the Univ. of Southern CA in 1950, and practiced law in Los Angeles and San Diego; in 1954 she was elected as a Democrat to the CA State Assembly, representing the 79th district (San Diego); was defeated in her 1956 re-election bid.
