Biographical notes:

The Office of the Inspector of Mines was created in 1909, the duties of which were "to visit each mining county in the state, examine all such mines...for the purpose to determining the condition of such mines as to safety, and to collect information andstatistics..., arrange and classify mineral and geological specimens..., and to establish a uniform code of signals to be applied in the industry.

In 1911 the inspector's term of office due to expire in 1913, was extended to 1915, with a provision for election every 4 years. In 1973 it was abolished as an elected office, and the Statute provided that the Mining Inspector shall be appointed by the Nevada Industrial Commission, and the Department of Industrial Safety shall have full power, jurisdiction and authority over all employments.
