Walter Frederick Boone was born February 14, 1898, in Berkeley, California. He received his promotion to rear admiral, U.S. Navy, in 1945. He served as commandant of the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, from 1954 to 1956. He died on March 19, 1995, in Washington, D.C.
