Biographical notes:

An Upper Midwest poet, author, and teacher, Barbara Juster Esbensen's writing can be divided into three areas: collections of poetry, retold tales, and books about animals. Her goal was to use language to fix an image in her readers' minds. Her retelling of the Ojibway folktale, The Star Maiden, won the Minnesota Book Award.
