Rigby, Alfred Abel 1841-1872.
Biographical notes:
Alfred A. Rigby was a native of Miami County, Ohio residing at Red Oak, Iowa at the time he enlisted with Company B of the 24th Iowa Volunteer Infantry on August 7, 1862. This regiment was known as the "Iowa Temperance Regiment", being composed of men committed to that principle. He was promoted to 6th Corporal on July 1, 1865 and was mustered out July 17, 1865 at Savannah, Georgia. After the war he lived in Mt. Vernon, Iowa where he was a member of Grand Army of the Republic Post #480 (Howard Post). He died on July 8, 1872 and was buried in the Mount Vernon Cemetery.
