Worcester Drop Forging Company founded in Worcester, Mass., by Horace Wyman and Lyman F. Gordon in 1883, chiefly as provider and manufacturer of forgings for local industries; later renamed Wyman-Gordon Company; during the late 19th century and throughout the 20th century, became known as world producer of forgings for transportation industries, from bicycle parts to automobile crankshafts and specialized forgings for the aerospace industries.
