Biographical notes:
Sarah Gertrude Banks was a native of Walled Lake, Mich. She was among the first women to be accepted in he University of Michigan Medical Department in 1870. Following her graduation, Dr. Banks was the second women physician in Detroit. She practiced medicine for half a century. Dr. Banks was long identified with the women sufferage movement, and was active in patriotic societies. She was also treasurer for the Detroit Equal Suffrage Club.
