Biographical notes:
Willis Drummond was Commissioner of the General Land Office, United States Department of the Interior, during the 1870s.
The General Land Office was established as part of the United States Treasury Department in 1812. In 1849, it was transferred to the Deptartment of the Interior. In 1946, the General Land Office and the Grazing Service were consolidated to form the Bureau of Land Management.
