Biographical notes:
Great grand-daughter of Davison McDowell (1783-1842), a Georgetown County, South Carolina plantation owner who emigrated from Ireland to America in 1810. McDowell served on a court of justices and freeholders who tried and executed several slaves for attempting to raise a rebellion in 1829.
