Biographical notes:

Margaret (Margi) E. G. Vanderhye (b. 1948) received a B.A. in Political Science from Northwestern University in 1970, and an M.A. in International Relations and Economics from Johns Hopkins University in 1972. She worked as a part-time research assistant to Senator Adlai E. Stevenson III, 1971 to 1972; was a legislative research assistant to Senator John V. Tunney from 1972 to 1973; and served as a staff officer for the Commission on the Organization of the Government for the Conduct of Foreign Policy (Murphy Commission), 1973 to 1975. Vanderhye was a staff assistant on the National Security Council from 1975 to 1976. After 1976, she served in a variety of positions: Chair, Citizens Advisory Committee to the Northern Virginia 2010 Transportation Plan; President, Virginia Association of Planning District Commissions; President, Virginia Planning District Commission; member, Chesapeake Bay Local Assistance Board; and member, Virginia Commission on Population, Growth and Development. From 1995 to 2001, Vanderhye was a member of the National Capital Planning Commission, appointed by President Bill Clinton.
