Welsh, Robert Louis, 1926-
Biographical notes:
Reverend Robert Welsh came to Iowa City in 1963 to serve at the First Christian Church. He was active in the early years of the Ecumenical Consultation of Christian Congregations. He also worked with the Iowa City Association of Religious Leaders and its predecessor, the Iowa City Council of Churches. He was the prime mover in the establishment of Ecumenical Towers, downtown housing for senior citizens. Welsh worked to feed the hungry, promote childcare, and ensure that cable television reflected community interests. He also ran for Iowa City city council and served on the city housing commission.
