Biographical notes:
Simon Moyse (1855-1946) worked as a merchant in Donaldsonville and St. Gabriel, La., and then moved to Baton Rouge, where he became one of the city's leading retailers. His son-in-law, Leopold Sommer (d. 1932), served as president of the Baton Rouge store Sommers, Inc. Sommer's daughter, Lydie (1903-1981), taught at Istrouma High School; his other daughter, Ray (1906-1995), worked as the assistant registrar at Louisiana State University. Hermann Moyse Sr. (1891-1985), a son of Simon Moyse, was a prominent attorney, president of the East Baton Rouge Bar Association, and vice-president of City National Bank in Baton Rouge. Hermann's brother-in-law, Lewis Gottlieb (1894-1975) served as chairman of the board at City National Bank.
