Biographical notes:
The Lutheran Committee for Cooperative Mission, comprised of Lutheran missionary agencies in Europe and North America in addition to the Japan Evangelical Lutheran Church (JELC) coordinated Lutheran cooperation in various mission projects and institutions. The Lutheran Literature Society (Seibunsha), organized in 1951, is another pan-Lutheran mission project. Other Lutheran and Protestant ecumenical organizations are included.
