Biographical notes:
Theodore Richmond (1837-1916) was the son of Judah L. Richmond (1807-1868), Baptist preacher of Ohio and New York. Theodore Richmond became a lawyer and practiced in Ligonier, Ind., 1861-1862, moving to Marshall, Iowa, in 1863. He went to Tennessee in 1865, living first in Athens and after 1870 in Chattanooga. He was a law partner of S. A. Key and later of Henry A. Chambers. He married Harriet Hallie Burgert, daughter of Adam Burgert of Navarre, later Cleveland, Ohio, in 1862. Their children were Grace, Theodore Jr., Bessie, and Chester Dawson Richmond.
