Biographical notes:

The Emergency Adult Education Project established Emergency Collegiate Centers in 1933 to provide relief for unemployed teachers and tuition free college courses for unemployed high school graduates. It was continued in 1936 with Works Progress Administration funding. The Syracuse Collegiate Center consisted of nine centers (eight in school year 1936-1937) sponsored by the New York State College of Forestry at Syracuse University.
