Biographical notes:
Organized 1874 from merger of women's group, North Worcester Benevolent Society, and men's group, North Worcester Aid Society under the latter name; originally assisted needy Civil War veterans and families, later aiding needy in North Worcester; evolved over the next century to support social service organizations for the poor throughout Worcester.
