Widdrington, Ralph

Biographical notes:

Ralph Widdrington was born in Stamfordham, Northumberland. He entered Christ's College, Cambridge, in 1632 (B.A., 1635; M.A., 1639), and was made a fellow of his college. He was appointed public orator in 1650, and regius professor of Greek in 1654. He was made Lady Margaret's preacher in 1664, and Lady Margaret's professor of divinity in 1673. Widdrington became rector of Thorp in 1661, and of Great Munden, Hertfordshire, in 1675. He died on 10 June 1688.
