Biographical notes:

John Dwight Ludden was a member of the Minnesota Territorial Legislature and Speaker of the House in 1852. In 1856, he was a member of the Minnesota Territorial Commission. Upon his death, Ludden left trust funds of land and real estate to the University of Minnesota to support students in need.

John Dwight Ludden was a member of the Minnesota Territorial Legislature and was Speaker of the House in 1852. In 1856, he was a member of the Minnesota Territorial Commission. The University possesses Ludden trust funds, which are based on Ludden's dealings in real estate, recorded in this collection.
