Biographical notes:

Harold B. Hoskins served in WWI and made his career as a businessman before entering WWII, at which point he was commissioned by Franklin Roosevelt to discuss problems involving Palestine with King Ibn Saud of Saudi Arabia. He became special assistant to the ambassador at Tehran in 1944, counselor for economic affairs attached to the American Legation in Cairo and to the American diplomatic missions in Lebanon, Palestine, Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Ethiopia. From 1955-1961 he was director of the Foreign Service Institute working in Middle Eastern affairs.
