Biographical notes:
J. Myles Gibbons was born in Scranton, Pa. He attended the University of Pennsylvania graduating in 1899 with a medical degree and in 1904 with a law degree. As a student at Pennsylvania, Gibbons served as manager of the Gymnastics team performing with the team in the area of wire walking, bar bell juggling, and trick cycling. He was a noted amateur cyclist. Gibbons was one of the earliest proponents of ice hockey in the United States, and by 1887 he had organized the University's Ice Hockey team, also serving as its manager.
