Lawyer since 1921 in the Buffalo firm of Moot, Sprague, Marcy, Landy & Fernbach, a practice begun by his grandfather, Eben Carleton Sprague; associated with Erie County Savings Bank since 1929 as cousel. Represented First Assembly District in N.Y. State Legislature, 1923-1924; involved in local and state history as member of board of managers of the Buffalo Historical Society, and of the N.Y. State Historic Sites Council; wrote articles on Western New York history.
